We are a Residential Inventory Management (RIM) service focused on reduction and removal, prior to organization. We are dedicated to helping you gain traction on managing the contents of your home. But more importantly, YOUR WHY is what really matters to us.
“Inventory” is defined as a supply of goods stored in a place. We define “Inventory” as the contents of your home requiring management. There is a Life Cycle to “Inventory” and it should be evaluated based on Life or Use. Ideally what comes in eventually goes out AND what you keep, you manage.
“Clutter” is the label for “Inventory” in a disorganized state. Identifying our “Inventory” as “clutter” does not help us determine its value or use in our lives; instead, it identifies that the clutter needs to be organized.
Inventory Reduction Vs. Decluttering: The process of decluttering does not generally encourage an overall reduction of inventory in the space, typically relocation or reorganizing. Failing to reduce inventory in a space before organizing can be costly and time consuming to manage.
Decluttering is a maintenance hobby. Inventory management is a lifestyle and requires ongoing management, most importantly keeping manageable inventory volumes low, allowing you to pivot more quickly when faced with life events.
The WHY SPRUCE Process
Our process is a WHY based approach, focused on your reasoning for reducing your “unmanageable” inventory. We do this through a method of timed services based on intentional decision making, which is influenced by the Life of the contents and their Use to you. After evaluating your level of containment needs, we can help establish structure and effective management of remaining inventory.
- All Services FILTERING: Decisions are based on YOUR “WHY,” potentially Health, Functionality, or Appearance driven.
- Deadwooding : 2-Hr Residential Inventory Reduction & Removal Service
- Macro scale removal of unwanted or unnecessary homewares, tools, etc. through quick decisions (known as Quick Cuts).
- QUICK CUTS: easy decisions to remove lifeless or dead inventory from your residence.
- Expired Inventory: no longer producing life or use, out of date.
- Excess Inventory/Obsolete inventory: in excess of current usage, goods still presenting Life usually fit in the labels (Don’t Want, Don’t Like, Don’t Use).
- Quick Pile Accumulation/Consolidation of papers and like articles, for further processing.
- Goal: Keep justified back stock, donate what is no longer useful or necessary. Learning to trust our decision making so we can get more efficient at making decisions.
- Trash and Transplant Categories Only
- REMOVAL: Only “Transplantable” Donations. Trash in excess of regular trash service may need to be facilitated at an additional cost.
- Transplanting Tote
- Donation Removal – Included in all services as well as a carryover in-between services at an additional cost.
- Pruning : 2-Hr Residential Reduction & Removal Service
- DISCLAIMER: This is a secondary more specialized service intended to be completed after “Deadwooding.”
- SLOW SAWS: Hard Decisions, items of questionable use. Usually fit in with the But Fallacy and Inventory requiring more thought to establish confidence.
- But Fallacy: Situational Identifier..Justification for keeping something based on faulty reasoning. For example: Used, but not liked (find replacement), Want but don’t use (make an intentional plan to use the item) usually sentimental.
- Inventory TEST: Identify Micro projects. Items where you question its remaining Life and Use to you or someone else. Example: Leaky Sprayer or Hose? Keep micro projects to a minimum as you’re just creating more work for your future self.
- USE Qualifier: Determine Use by Mentally putting it into a Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly Category.
- DORMANCY: stored items should come out of dormancy from time to time. If stored inventory exceeds a year, highly consider “transplanting” (donating or getting rid of) those goods.
- LEARNING: to identify “friction” and remove it.
- Identifying existing containment options for Sprucing
- Sprucing: 2-Hr Residential Inventory Management

The spruce tree is a figurative depiction of our homes; the Health, Functionality, and Appearance relies upon proper deadwooding, pruning and ongoing management in order to bear fruit, produce oxygen, and provide protection.

HEALTH
- Removal of deadwood provides resistance to pests and disease.
- Excessive inventory deteriorates and can be affected by pests (ie. mice, spiders, bugs.) Pests affect the quality of inventory over time, which makes it less desirable to keep or use.
- Trimming can prevent decay or dilapidation.
- When we remove the deadwood it can help preserve the life of the home and our mental health.
APPEARANCE
- Deadwooding and pruning can help improve appearance, shape, and attractiveness.
- Once you remove unnecessary inventory from your house, you may start to value a cleaner-looking space.
FUNCTIONALITY
- Some branches need to be removed to support foliage growing underneath.
